You can't just bin old tyres — they're classified as controlled waste. Here's what responsible disposal looks like, and how we handle it for you.

Used tyres are classified as controlled waste in the UK — you cannot put them in your household bin, take them to most household waste recycling centres, or dump them. Illegal disposal of tyres can result in significant fines. So what happens to your old tyres when they're replaced?

How Tyres Are Recycled in the UK

The majority of end-of-life tyres in the UK are processed through a shredding and granulation process. The resulting crumb rubber is used in sports surfaces, playground flooring, road construction, and industrial products. Steel wire is extracted and recycled separately.

Our Free Tyre Disposal Service

When we fit new tyres on your vehicle, we take away your old tyres free of charge. We transport them to authorised tyre processing facilities that hold the correct waste carrier licences. You get new tyres fitted and your old ones responsibly disposed of — no extra cost, no hassle.

Tyre Waste Legislation in the UK

  • End-of-life tyres are classified as special waste
  • Cannot be landfilled (banned since 2006)
  • Must be handled by licensed waste carriers
  • Unauthorised disposal can result in large fines
  • Our vehicles are licensed waste carriers

New tyres fitted and old ones responsibly removed — all as part of our standard mobile tyre service. Call 020 3910 1898.
